Incubator Project

Nore Valley Park started this educational project in February 2014 in its local primary school. The project has since then taken off and

numerous schools have par-taken in the project through Kilkenny and the South East. The project involves a member of staff from Nore

Valley Park coming into the primary school and giving an educational talk on the lifecycle of an chick, from the development of an egg till it

hatches, using the incubator for the hatching process and the hatching process itself. Once the eggs hatch, the school minds the chicks for

two weeks, before they are taking back to Nore Valley Park. Nore Valley Park provides each primary school with eggs, an incubator, a brood

box for once the chicks hatch, along with a heat lamp, water drinkers, and food. Each school that participates will pay a small few to cover

the cost of travel costs and each child will receive a free pass to come visit their chicks.
